About Asphalt Paving Rapid City

Asphalt Paving Rapid City paves and maintains driveways, parking lots and private roads in Rapid City and across the Black Hills, from Box Elder and Rapid Valley out to Sturgis, Spearfish, Hill City and Custer. The work includes new driveways, commercial lots, overlays, patching, crack sealing, sealcoating and parking lot striping.

Paving here deals with conditions most of the country does not. Chinook winds can swing temperatures fifty degrees in a day, so pavement freezes and thaws dozens of times a winter. Many lots sit on shale and clay that swell when wet, and hillside driveways in the Hills move water fast. Pavement that lasts in western South Dakota is built on a firm, well-drained base and kept sealed.

Every job starts with a visit. We measure, look at slope and drainage, check for soft ground, and note where your driveway meets the street or county road. Rapid City requires a right-of-way permit for driveway approach work, and Pennington and Meade counties each have their own approach permits for county roads. We tell you which, if any, apply.

You get a written quote that lists removal, base work, asphalt thickness, edges and any sealing or striping, with a price for each. We do not sell leftover asphalt from a truck at your door, and work starts only after you approve the scope in writing.

How we work

  • Base and drainage checked before asphalt is priced
  • Compacted thickness of base and asphalt written into every quote
  • Paving scheduled for ground temperatures that let the mix compact
  • New asphalt left to cure before it is sealed
  • Commercial striping laid out to the 2010 ADA Standards
  • No work begins without your signature
